Board Membership Qualifications

Serving on the CHALC Board is an opportunity to provide leadership and stewardship for the organization while supporting homeschool groups throughout Lancaster County. Because the Board is responsible for preserving CHALC's mission and Christian foundation, Board members are expected to meet the qualifications established in the Bylaws.

To serve on the CHALC Board, an individual must:

  • Be a homeschooling parent who participates in a CHALC member homeschool group in good standing.
  • Be willing to serve a three-year term.
  • Affirm the CHALC Statement of Faith.
  • Be a member of a local Christian church.
  • Profess a personal faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Meet the qualifications established in the CHALC Bylaws.

Board positions may be filled by an individual or by a husband and wife serving together. In either case, each Board position constitutes a single voting member of the Board and is entitled to one vote.

Board members are expected to serve with integrity, humility, and a commitment to advancing CHALC's mission above personal interests or the interests of any individual homeschool group

Terms of Service

Service on the CHALC Board is both a privilege and a commitment. Board members are elected to provide continuity, stability, and long-term leadership for the organization.

Board members serve three-year staggered terms, with approximately one-third of the Board rotating each year. This staggered structure helps preserve organizational knowledge while providing regular opportunities for new leadership and fresh perspectives.

Board terms officially begin on June 1 following election. To promote an orderly transition, outgoing Board members continue serving through August 31, allowing time to orient incoming members, transfer responsibilities, and ensure continuity of operations.
